Pandora: The Song Decoders

mooi stuk uit de New York Times over mijn (oude) helden op gebied van music streaming.
en wreef het verlies ervan (in Nederland) nog es f goed in..

The Song Decoders
By breaking music down into its component parts, Pandora Internet radio tries to figure out what kind of music you — not your social group, heroes or aspirational self — really like.

Music & Bits is an exploration of Music & Technology.

http://musicandbits.com

Music & Bits is an exploration of Music & Technology.

It started in April this year, as Music & Bits was the pre-conference of The Next Web event. To complement the event, Music & Bits was part of pre-conference sessions held a day before the main event.

Sparked by the first Music & Bits in April, a second Music & Bits will be held on October the 21st. Now being the pre-conference of Amsterdam Dance Event, we hope to continue the dialog about music and technology. The growing movement in favor of making databases generated by online music services more open, are the ingredients for new track to Music & Bits: an official Music Hack Day.

At the Music Hack Day track the main goal is for participants to rapidly prototype and build new projects, working through the night to complete and present them in the late afternoon. They have only this day to conceptualize, build, & present their projects. Hardware meets Software meets Online, all connected via music. Some music services (with an API) we would like to see in use are: Songkick, Beatport, Echonest, Soundcloud, Last.fm & Playdar.

20 Things video podcast

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/newmusicstrategies/~3/aXNaN22MD8I/

Video

The university I work at has put together a series of videos about my free e-book The 20 Things You Must Know About Music Online.

This is not a video version of the book per se, but rather me talking briefly about each of the different sections of the book in turn.

Because these video podcasts are eventually destined for the iTunesU site that the university is putting together, they are in a particular (and very nice) video format, which doesn

oud, verschrikkelijk nieuws 'The Rise of Disaster Capitalism'

'The Rise of Disaster Capitalism'
