Drawing on academic research from French universities, British venture-capital finance and American marketing expertise, Audionamix are a truly global company who claim to have achieved something remarkable: the ability to 'de-mix' recorded music into its constituent instrumental parts. Using five different processing algorithms at their disposal, their experts work with recording engineers to achieve the best possible results.
So far, the most high-profile outing for their work has been on the Edith Piaf biopic La Vie En Rose, where they helped to isolate Piaf's voice from its original context so that the orchestration could be completely replaced. And following the surprise ascent of Vera Lynn's 'Best Of' album to the top of the UK charts, they have also been employed to perform the same magic on her most famous song, 'We'll Meet Again'. The degree to which Lynn's voice has been isolated is amazing, and although the soloed vocal track displays some obvious modulation artifacts, these largely disappear in the context of the new orchestration.

This year at AES in New York Avenson Audio introduces two new half rack space processors, the Mid-Side and the Blend.

The Mid-Side allows conversion of stereo Left-Right into M-S and back. There is a width control to balance the M vs S as well as a dedicated variable high pass filter for the Side channel.

Blend is a stereo two channel mixer designed for stem mixing or parallel processing. It features a 100mm fader for fine blend control and stereo sixteen segment LED metering.

Music & Bits is an exploration of Music & Technology.

It started in April this year, as Music & Bits was the pre-conference of The Next Web event. To complement the event, Music & Bits was part of pre-conference sessions held a day before the main event.

Sparked by the first Music & Bits in April, a second Music & Bits will be held on October the 21st. Now being the pre-conference of Amsterdam Dance Event, we hope to continue the dialog about music and technology. The growing movement in favor of making databases generated by online music services more open, are the ingredients for new track to Music & Bits: an official Music Hack Day.

At the Music Hack Day track the main goal is for participants to rapidly prototype and build new projects, working through the night to complete and present them in the late afternoon. They have only this day to conceptualize, build, & present their projects. Hardware meets Software meets Online, all connected via music. Some music services (with an API) we would like to see in use are: Songkick, Beatport, Echonest, Soundcloud, Last.fm & Playdar.

remote voor de Mac via iPhone/iPod touch

en het werkt! echt heerlijk, nu kan ik van overal in de studio op play en rec drukken..... mixen op 5 meter afstand van mijn speakers..

er zijn meerdere apps, heb er een paar geprobeert, maar deze is simpel, werkt altijd (je kan zelf client IP invullen en dat scheelt)

Brownswood session

man, heb ik wat moois meegemaakt....

zaterdag 27 oktober was ik gevraagd een jam sessie op te nemen in de Kswiss shop.
Soil & Pimp en Jose James hadden die avond ervoor in de Paradiso opgetreden en gingen gezamelijk nog wat jammen....
Dat was magistraal! Die gasten gingen los, de soepele stem van Jose James, gecombineerd met de 'def jazz' van Soil & Pimp. Die band is zo energiek dat zodra ze hun instrumenten aanraken je de motor al hoort ronken, en als ze gaan...dan gaan ze hard! Wat een energie, wat een kunde. Bloeiende trompet, scheurende sax, rinkelende Rhodes, ondersteund door een vreselijk funky ritme tandem drum en bass...

gear slut humor

So the question is: Wife or modular synth?
I guess I gotta weigh the pros and cons:

1. Can push their buttons easily
2. Nice user interface
3. LFO on the synth is great; LFO on the wife - downright fun!
4. Both make an awful lot of noise
5. Can shut the synth off
6. synth can be turned on much easier than wife
7. synth never gets a headache
8. "Ring" modulator is much more expensive for the wife
9. Will probably pay more attention to the synth than the wife
10. Can get mercifully pounded while playing synth at 1 a.m.,
will get mercilessly pounded by wife for playing synth at 1 a.m.
11. Expanding synth - good. Expanding wife - bad.
12. It's okay to come home to find best friend on the synth
